Why mathforchildren?

Welcome to mathforchildren.wordpress.com.  My hope for this blog is that it serves as a handy site for parents like me that want their children to become numerate. To that end it’ll have games that help children learn math, my experiences helping my daughter with math, and a smattering of information relating to teaching math to children.

Naturally I can only write from my own experience. My daughter was born on Valentine’s Day, 2004, which makes her four years old as of this writing. The games and ideas at this point will be mainly for children her age or younger, but will grow and expand just as she grows.

I hope you enjoy this blog and find it useful. I’m certainly interested in hearing comments from you, whether good or more in the vein of constructive criticism. One thing I have learned over the past four years is that I have a lot to learn. Enjoy!
